And by “fun” I mean “a royal pain in the arse, especially in the morning, when your shower suddenly decides it wants to turn on and stay on, despite all sorts of yanking and pulling and pushing of the knobs.”

We’ve been having problems with our shower during the past couple of weeks. First it started dripping, then the knobs started sticking, then the water pressure dropped to something resembling a gentle, soothing stream, and then only the hot or the cold water -but not both- would work at one time.

It all came to a head this morning, right as I stepped into the shower.

I turn on the gentle stream… and only the cold will work. Then only the hot will work. I close my eyes and gather up all my patience, which isn’t much. I’ll start over, I think.

I turn both knobs off. The water keeps running.

I yell for Mike, cuz he is in charge of all things plumbing.

He can’t turn the water off either, but he does manage to get both the hot AND cold working, so I take a quick shower. Then I yell for him to come figure out how to turn it off.

I escape out of the bathroom to finish getting ready, but I can still hear him clanking around and muttering things like “serenity now!” to himself.

I throw out helpful words of advice, such as Maybe you need a wrench and We might need to call someone and Don’t snap the knobs off!

He finally figures out that if he turns the knob all the way to the left and then back to the right, it will turn off. He screeches “Are you KIDDING me? THAT’S how we have to turn it off?” before exiting the bathroom, right as the baby monitor lights up with an “Eeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh.”

Ryan’s awake.

“You guys should just use my swimming pool bathtub. It’s way cool.”

Thinking now that I could really use some of the wine in the background of that photo.
