Isn’t that what the parenting gurus say? If you’re watching the news and you see a story about a house that burned down, you use it as a means to open a dialogue with your kid about the dangers of matches.

If you were in my home last night, you would have heard this conversation between a man and his son:

“You’re such a good boy … Yeah, you are … Mommy thinks so, too … You’re a good, sweet, nice boy … Don’t ever do drugs.”

I think his transitions need a little work.
