Ryan started drooling when he was about 3 months old.

And he kept drooling. And drooling. Many times we assumed he was teething, and many times we were wrong.

He did finally grow two teeth when he was about 9 months old. They popped up one right after the other, and the pediatrician confirmed what we suspected: that a whole bunch were on their way right behind them. But naturally, he was wrong, and no more teeth have arrived, despite the fact that Ryan is drooling more than ever.

This bothers me. Not because I think he needs teeth right this second, not because the skin around his mouth is red and raw and sort of makes him look like a baby joker.

It bothers me because in every cute picture I take, the kid has a bib on.

I’ll be honest: I had a kid so that I could dress him up in cute clothes. (Whatevs – you know that’s why you had a kid, too.) And boy, does my kid have some cute clothes. Polo shirts and button downs and rompers.

You’d never know it, though. Cuz every picture I take looks like this:

“Why so seeeerious?”
Yeah, he’s a mess.
