On my 21st birthday, I packed my mom’s car up with a few piles of clothes, a computer and some hope, and I headed west. In the nine years since, you’ve given me so much.
You introduced me to cactuses, to 115-degree heat, to year-round sun. To road trips to Rocky Point, San Diego, Sedona, Flagstaff, Prescott and Bisbee. You introduced me to my husband; you saw my wedding and the birth of my son.
I will miss your sunsets. I’ll miss throwing open the doors and windows on Thanksgiving and Easter. I’ll miss the scenic views and the spring training baseball games. I’ll miss the mountains in the distance and the mountains under my feet.
Today, we’re leaving – as a family. It’s not you; it just that sometimes, family has to come first.
You were an amazing adventure. Thank you. I will be back soon.
