I’m a freelance journalist and essayist, a wife, mother to my spirited six-year-old biological son and a foster parent.

What is “Phase Three”?

Phase One of my life was growing up in Ohio. Being a kid. Rampant teenage angst. Discovering I like to write. Going to college to learn to do it better.

Phase Two was graduating from college, packing up my mom’s car and heading to Arizona. A planned 10-week internship somehow morphed into three jobs, countless road trips, 50 wedding guests, and one positive pregnancy test.

Phase Three includes – but is not limited to – the birth of my son, moving Back East to be closer to family, trading in the 9-5 to launch my freelance writing career and becoming a foster parent.
